1931: Vasudev Balwant Gogte Gun fired at Sir John Hotson, the governor of Mumbai province, in the library of Ferguson College. Hotson survived.

1915: Shaista Suhrawardy Ikramullah, a Pakistani politician from Bengal, diplomat, and author.
1923: Mukesh, an Indian playback singer.
1923: Sumitra Devi, an Indian actress.
1925: Daasarathi Krishnamacharya, a Telugu poet, and writer.
1929: Baselios Thomas I, Indian bishop
1930: Shreeram Shankar Abhyankar, an Indian American mathematician.
1933: C. V. Sridhar, an Indian screenwriter, and film director.
1937: Vasant Ranjane, Indian cricketer (d. 2011)
1959: Ajit Pawar, an Indian politician.
1970: Devendra Fadnavis, an Indian politician. He served as the 18th Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
1992: Selena Gomez, an American singer, actress, and producer.
1995: Armaan Malik, Indian playback singer, composer and songwriter
