1978: M A Ayyangar, the Deputy Speaker and then-Speaker of the Lok Sabha in the Indian parliament.

1982: J. B. Kripalani, an Indian politician.

1998: E. M. S. Namboodiripad, an Indian communist politician and theorist, who served as the first Chief Minister of Kerala.

2005: John DeLorean, an American engineer and inventor.

2008: Sir Arthur C. Clarke, an English science-fiction writer.

2015: Sasimani Debi, the last living Mahari or Devdasi of Jagannath temple.
